Project Name: US Railway Network Solution
Products Deployed: TRGPS-9084TG-M12X-BP2
A US railway high-speed train running along the east coast has been providing on-board wireless services for passengers since 2004. Considering growing demand for video streaming, the train company decided to upgrade its on-board wireless network to improve passenger experience during their journey. In addition, video data from on-board IP cameras also consumes a lot of bandwidth. Therefore, the company decided to deploy 10G switches to provide a future-proof backhaul network for the on-board APs.
The train company has chosen ORing's TRGPS-9084TG-M12X-BP2 industrial Ethernet switch recommended by its distributor for this project. The switch comes with eight 1G PoE ports and four 10G ports to provide more than sufficient capacity for bandwidth-hungry devices such as IP cameras. With PoE support, each port can provide up to 30 watts of power while transmitting data, which saves costs and reduces complexity when deploying IP cameras. The switch boasts an industrial-grade design such as hardened M12 connectors for high vibration and a wide operating temperature for robust connections in harsh environments. Besides support for O-Ring and O-Chain topology, the switch offers two sets of bypass ports to fully address the train company’s needs for network redundancy. When one link fails, traffic will be automatically directed to other active links, thus ensuring uninterrupted data communications.
