Project Name: Smart Building Systems for China Energy Storage Building
Products Deployed: IPS-3082G
In the 58-floor China Energy Storage Building, the smart building system needs to connect the equipment on every floor to the two core switches in the control center via Ethernet so the staff can access the status of the equipment remotely and immediately. The two core switches in the control center operate as master and slave to provide network redundancy. When one of the switches breaks down, data can still be transmitted via the other core switch, significantly enhancing network reliability.
ORing used its proprietary O-Chain technology, a breakthrough for network redundancy, in this structure. It can be integrated with any backbone networks to provide scalability. It also reduces self-healing time to ms to ensure fast recovery. The technology endows the network with extraordinary flexibility, compatibility, operability, and a high cost/performance ratio.
The cabinet on every floor contains two or three IPS-3082GC industrial Ethernet switches. Each switch provides eight Fast Ethernet PoE ports and two Gigabit combo ports. On every six or seven floors, the IPS-3082GCs are connected with each other through the two Gigabit combo ports. The first and the last IPS-3082GC are then connected to the master/slave core switches in the control center to form a chain topology. The O-Chain technology enables the company to construct a large, sophisticated network topology, pushing it beyond the limit of existing network redundancy and creating multiple redundancy structures.
Since a smart building system contains many subsystems, it is necessary to segment these subsystems into different VLANs to reduce broadcast storms and enhance network communications security, such as wireless APs for one VLAN and IP surveillance system for another VLAN. The managed IPS-3082GC switches support VLAN segmentation and can thus provide higher security and performance.
