Each PV panel is installed with a PLC which acts as a controller for the tracking system to make sure the solar panel follows the direction of the sunlight. To improve the efficiency of data communications between the field site and the control center, ORing has helped the customer deploy a reliable industrial Ethernet network. Functioning as the neural system of the PV plant, the Ethernet network delivers commands from the control center to each PLC and sends data from the PLCs to the control center. By enabling the control center to control every PV panel remotely, the tracking system can work more efficiently.
For the reliability of the entire communications network, the customer has adopted ORing's IES-3162GC managed industrial Ethernet switch featuring a high density of ports, including 16 Fast Ethernet ports and two Gigabit Combo ports for high-speed, long-distance fiber connections. With support O-Ring and O-Chain, ORing's proprietary network redundancy technologies, the switch enables automatic network recovery within 30ms, significantly reducing the risk of single point failure. For PV panels in remote sites, the customer has installed ORing's IES-1160 unmanaged Ethernet switch equipped with 16 Fast Ethernet ports to connect nearby PLCs to the network formed by the IES-3162GC.
O-Chain is a flexible and scalable network redundancy technology. Unlike traditional ring topology, O-Chain can form a ring topology easily by connecting the first node to the last node to link the loop together. This future-proof technology enables the customer to create and expand a network in a snap.
As ORing's switches are designed to meet industrial standards, including a wide temperature range between -40~70℃ and a five-year warranty, the customer can rest assured that the network will continue to operate with high performance when the temperature drops to zero at night.
