At field sites, each traffic signal cabinet is equipped with ORing’s IGS-9812GP to forward data from a variety of devices such as traffic signal controllers, CCTV cameras, message signs, and traffic detectors to the back-end control center where RGS-P9000HV is installed.
With Gigabit capacity, ORing's IGS-9812GP ensures smooth and reliable transmission of the huge amount of data, especially video footages from the IP surveillance system. As the switch supports SFP modules, data can be transmitted from the field site to the remote TMC building without degrading signal quality.
The switch is configured with IGMP snooping to optimize bandwidth usage and reduce network congestion. All data is protected from unauthorized network access with various security measures such as VLAN, SNMPv3, IEEE802.1x, HTTPS, and SSH. All of the switches are deployed in a ring topology to make use of ORing’s proprietary O-Ring technology. When a node fails, data will continue to be transmitted through active nodes, ensuring uninterrupted network services. This technology provides network redundancy with a recovery time under 30ms (at 250-switch load).
With the help of ORing's networking solution, the DoT is able to manage all events and activities related to the transport network in collaboration with its strategic partners including Al-Ain Police, road services patrol coordinators, towing and recovery service providers, and public transport services coordinators. The DoT can inform these partners of situations on the road and request support immediately, significantly enhancing problem-solving efficiency.
The DoT can also collect and analyze the traffic data to keep track of road conditions, thereby improving traffic and responding to emergencies in real time.
