ORing Builds In-vehicle Smart Network for Tianjin Metro Line 1

Project Introduction

Location: Tianjin,China

Project Name: Tianjin Metro Line 1

Products Deployed: TAR-620-M12-MV

Project Requirement

  • Transmit data concerning vehicle operations, parameters, and in-vehicle systems to the control center in real time
  • Resistance to vibration
  • High port density including Ethernet ports, cellular network ports, and WLAN ports

Solution

ORing Covering 32 stations, the 42km-long Tianjin Metro Line 1 in China started operation on 12 June 2006. This line was rebuilt from the original Tianjin Metro line as part of the system's modernizing project. The line passes through six districts, including Beichen, Hongqiao, Nankai, Heping, Hexi and Jinnan.

To provide passengers with more pleasant and convenient travel experience through modernization, Tianjin Metro company has introduced intelligent technology into the subway system. With the adoption of automation, there is no driver in the front cabin of the train. All trains are operated and controlled centrally from the control center. During operations, the status of the trains and related parameters are transmitted to the control center in real time. Once abnormal conditions or faults are detected, they will be reported and analyzed so a solution can be found as soon as possible.

ORing’s wireless routers were deployed to establish a tunnel for real-time data transmission between the intelligent system and the control center. Each train is installed with a TAR-620-M12-MV which comes with a SIM card slot to support different kinds of networks such as mobile and fixed networks, providing more operational flexibility. The EN50155-compliant TAR-620-M12-MV supports IEEE802.11 a/b/g/n and the two 10/100Base-T(X) M12 ports enable network redundancy by forming a ring topology (self-healing in 10ms). In addition, theTAR-620-M12-MV has a 60V to 160VDC input range and uses A-coding connectors to ensure steady power supply.
