Many Ethernet protocols, e.g., STP, RSTP, MSTP, etc., are defined by IEEE (Institute for Electrical & Electronics Engineers) to recovery the disconnections. However, the recovery time is much more critical for industrial applications than for commercial applications. Hence, vendors of industrial networking devices usually develop their own proprietary redundant ring technologies. ORing Networking Industrial Corp. has also developed its own enhanced redundant ring technologies, O-Ring, O-RSTP, Open-Ring.
O-Ring is ORing’s proprietary redundant ring technology, which could make the recovery time less than 10 milliseconds within maximally 250 units.
O-Ring could minimize the recovery time less than 10 ms, however, it usually only supports simple topology, and might not meet all end users’ requests. Thus, ORing has developed another redundant ring technology, O-RSTP, to support complex topologies to be applied in various applications, and the recovery time is also less than 10 ms.
In addition, Open-Ring is an enhanced redundancy technology which enables ORing’s switches compatible with any redundant proprietary ring technologies from any other vendors. According to this, the end users could join ORing’s switches with the other vendors’ switches to be a single ring. Currently, it has been proved that ORing’s switches are compatible with other vendor's switch. If you are considered to extend the previous environment, no doubt, ORing is your best choice. With ORing, it is no need for you to be restricted to your unsatisfied vendors any more. Further, ORing also provides proprietary ring technology compatibility service. If you are interested in using ORing switches, ORing could make our switches compatible with the previous vendors’ switches.
For products to operate in harsh industrial environments, they must withstand and operate reliably under extreme temperatures and vibration, and resist the effects of exposure to electrical interference. There is also considerable potential for noise interference which can cause communications latency and transmission retries. While operating in these somewhat hostile environments, networking products must offer security and encryption to prevent another type of “interference” such as unauthorized access, compromised data integrity or attacks that may result in halting the system.
