To promote technology and arts education in rural areas, Sanmin High School and the ORing Da-Gang Culture and Arts Foundation have partnered to launch a care initiative for underprivileged children. This project aims to bridge the urban-rural resource gap by providing diverse, interest-based learning experiences that foster growth and opportunity.
In 2024, with strong support from the foundation, Sanmin High School established the Fang-Ting Shih Scholarship, which rewards students for academic excellence and supports those from underprivileged backgrounds. It also encourages outstanding student groups to strive for continued excellence. This year, 74 scholarships have been awarded, totaling NT$243,000, offering students solid support on their learning journey. In addition to scholarships, the foundation contributed NT$30,000 to support Sanmin’s FRC (First Robotics Competition) Team, which won the Rookie All-Star Award at last year’s world competition. The donation will help the team represent Taiwan at an upcoming event in the U.S., empowering students to chase their dreams and shine on the global stage.
Furthermore, Sanmin High School and the foundation co-organized a winter break Technology and Arts Education Camp as part of their rural outreach initiative. Students from Shuangxi and Shanglin Elementary Schools in New Taipei were invited to participate, gaining hands-on exposure to both technology and the humanities. The camp began with Sanmin’s FRC 9501 team members becoming “junior instructors,” leading younger students through robotics and maker activities - igniting their passion for science and technology through engaging, hands-on learning. The children not only operated robots themselves but also discovered new ways to imagine and apply future technologies.
Next, the group visited the “Ink Without Borders – Shih Chun-Mao Contemporary Calligraphy Exhibition in France” at the ORing Ta Gang Cultural and Arts Foundation. This up-close encounter with modern calligraphy inspired the students to reimagine written language and broaden their artistic horizons. The event concluded with a visit to Taipei 101, where students experienced Taiwan’s iconic architecture and were encouraged to develop a forward-looking mindset—reflecting on their journey of cross-disciplinary learning.
This close collaboration between Sanmin High School and the ORing Da-Gang Culture and Arts Foundation not only provides students with valuable resources but also opens new paths for multidimensional learning. Moving forward, both parties will continue to deepen their partnership and expand their reach - lighting the way for more students to grow into globally minded, innovative talents.
