Open standards play a key role in the development and proliferation of IIoT (Industrial IoT). This is why the Eclipse Foundation has launched the Sparkplug Working Group to drive the evolution and broad adoption of the Eclipse Sparkplug Specification that enables the creation of open, interoperable, IIoT solutions utilizing MQTT. ORing is pleased to announce to become one of the founding members to work with Eclipse Foundation in the journey towards a more connected world.
The Working Group will define technical specifications and improve the interoperability and scalability of IIoT while providing an overall framework to help industries introduce Industry 4.0 technologies into their production facilities. As a founding member of the Working Group, ORing has teamed up with other members, Inductive Automation and Cirrus Link to integrate MQTT-Sparkplug technology into its ORing-PaaS (Platform as a Service), a next-generation IIoT and Smart City solution.
ORing-PaaS can connect with any standard IoT devices supported by MQTT-Sparkplug through MQTT-Sparkplug broker (server) to provide device management, data management, and network management functions. The topology of MQTT device connectivity and live status will be visualized to simplify operation and management. ORing-PaaS also supports public and on-premise cloud for different industries and smart city applications. In addition, ORing provides IoT devices compliant with MQTT-Sparkplug such as smart street lighting, smart metering, smart parking, and environment monitoring.
"It is our great honor to become part of the Sparkplug Working Group. Through cooperation with the Working Group and other members, we will be able to develop next-generation IIoT solutions utilizing MQTT more efficiently, thus shortening time to market," said Angus Shih, CEO of ORing. "ORing-PaaS with ORing MQTT-Sparkplug IoT devices work well with Ignition and Cirrus Link modules using standard MQTT-Sparkplug protocols. MQTT-Sparkplug is the best solution to solve IoT device compatibility issues and can manage the status of IOT devices in real time. ORing will continue investing resources to provide the industry's best IoT solutions through collaboration with partners in the Sparkplug Working Group."
