As a leading industrial networking solution provider, ORing Industrial Networking announced it has been awarded the IEC 62443-4-1 certificate pertaining to cybersecurity standards after a series of testing and auditing conducted by Bureau Veritas. The IEC 62443-4-1 certificate, issued by the IECEE certification body, validates ORing’s secure product development and quality assurance.
The growing number of edge devices and wider network coverage has expanded organizational attack surface, resulting in an urgent need for more effective cybersecurity measures throughout product development. As IACS (Industrial Automation and Control Systems) in the energy infrastructure are vulnerable to cyber security incidents and constantly become the target of cyberattacks, building in cybersecurity earlier in the design process will make the whole product development process more effective. As a result, the purpose-built IEC 62443 family of standards has been created to address security issues unique to IACS. Among them, IEC 62443-4-1 defines a secure development lifecycle and IEC 62443-4-2 defines technical requirements for products or components. With secure-by-design in mind, ORing has been devoted to achieving security lifecycle management and vulnerability patching management during product design. The IEC 62443-4-1 certificate recognizes ORing’s ability to identify and respond to security breaches while working with customers to reduce security risks, indicating our efforts have paid off.
“We are honored to be recognized by the world leader in conformity assessment and certification services,” says Angus Shih, CEO at ORing. “This certificate is an important requirement for customers, especially system integrators, when choosing suppliers of industrial automation and control systems. It shows our product development and life cycle management procedures are in full compliance with industry standards and everything from product planning, design, implementation, test verification, to mass production is carried out in accordance with the IEC 62443-4-1 specification.”
ORing is working towards acquiring the IEC 62443-4-2 certificate for its products. Currently, ORing’s 9000-series industrial Ethernet switches have passed the VOC (Verification of Compliance) test conducted at the lab of Taiwan’s Institute for Information Industry, a third-party lab certified by BV. The VOC test confirms ORing’s 9000-series industrial Ethernet switches are IEC 62443-4-2 ready and equipped with robust security technologies that meet the technical security requirements of the standard.
