ORing has announced a cost-effective media converter with the ability of extending an Ethernet connection beyond its inherent distance limitation. The new offering, known as IMC-V111ET-TB, is especially suitable for old trains as it provides a 2-wire Ethernet extender port to enable a 100Mbps Ethernet IP network using 2-wire cables commonly used in existing train infrastructure.

IMC-V111ET-TB’s 2-wire Ethernet technology is a perfect fit for legacy installations where existing cables are re-deployed as part of an upgrade to Ethernet networks as there is no need to lay any new cables or implement any other constructional measures, hence protecting customers’ existing investment. The IMC-V111ET-TB allows you to span a 10/100 network over 2-wire 24AWG cables up to 2400m+ (8000 feet) while maintaining high-speed network connectivity. 

Designed to work in harsh environments of temperature extremes, humidity, and vibration, the media converter provides a wide operating temperature ranging from -40°C to +75°C and two power inputs for redundancy. The switch is an ideal choice for customers in search of cost-effective solutions for railway applications.
