Following the award of the IoT cybersecurity certification for ORing's BAR-1663 industrial wireless router accredited by TAICS (Taiwan Association of Information and Communication Standards) in late 2019, ORing has once again been recognized by TAICS with its smart light controller.
Aimed to establish security standards and guidelines for IoT devices, TAICS' IoT cybersecurity certification consists of three levels based on the degree of risk and the complexity of cybersecurity technology. Testing is conducted in three categories including security functions (such as event logs, firmware update, user identification and control, and traffic management), reliability, and vulnerability. ORing's OL-N2T5GPA1-NBG-UR has passed the second level test which was conducted by TÜV Rheinland's Taiwan office. The Level 2 award means the smart light controller has met the security requirements for commercial use.

The OL-N2T5GPA1-NBG-UR smart light controller uses licensed wireless frequencies to communicate with devices in a more cost-effective and energy-efficient way. It can monitor electrical parameters such as Vrms (V), Irms (I), power factor (PF), frequency (Hz), and power in real time and control its cell controllers. It also provides fault information such as over/under voltage, over/under current, lamp/driver fault, and device failure to help users perform debugging. The smart light controller comes with a G-sensor to detect tilt and send alarms in the case of damage. As it is designed to achieve autonomous light control, the OL-N2T5GPA1-NBG-UR can dim light based on sunrise time or other conditions.
"The award to the OL-N2T5GPA1-NBG-UR proves our effort to provide customers with secure, high-quality IIoT solutions has paid off," said ORing CEO Angus Shih. "Lighting control is the cornerstone of any smart city and our OL-N2T5GPA1-NBG-UR smart light controller will help governments lay a solid foundation for their smart city infrastructure."
