Project Introduction

Location: Taiwan

Name: In-vehicle Network System

Deployed: IGPS-1080-24V, IAR-142+-4G

Project Requirement

  • Mobile communications
  • Reliable wireless connection
  • Secure data transmission

Solution

ORing’s IAR-142+-4G industrial cellular VPN routers are installed on the bus to provide high-performance and reliable wireless communication for passengers. These router work like personal Wi-Fi hotspots that have a cell modem on one end bringing a signal in, and a Wi-Fi connection on the other to link to local devices.

The IAR-142+-4G supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n standards and encryption methods such as WEP, WPA, and WPA2, enabling the device to create a secure Wi-Fi network and prevent unauthorized access. Moreover, one of its Ethernet ports is PoE-enabled, allowing the device to be powered directly through the connected Ethernet cable. This is especially beneficial for bus applications, where cabling space and complexity are major concerns in a moving vehicle.

In this deployment, the IGPS-1080-24V industrial PoE switch is used to connect the IP camera and simultaneously provide power to the IAR-142+-4G. By integrating data connectivity and power delivery into a single Ethernet infrastructure, the solution simplifies installation, reduces cabling requirements, and ensures stable operation of both the wireless router and video surveillance system.
