Project Introduction
Location: China
Project Name: ORing Powers Up China’s First Cargo Airport
Products Deployed: RGS-PR9000-HV
Project Background
Ezhou Huahu Airport is China’s first cargo airport and will become an international cargo hub together with the airports in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. This airport have a single terminal with two runways and logistics facilities capable of handling over two million tons of cargo and one million passengers annually by 2025.
To support the huge shipping capacity, the airport must be equipped with reliable and secure power supply systems and such systems rely on network switches that can not only provide high performance but also endure harsh operating environments. Therefore, the airport has adopted ORing’s industrial Ethernet switches to create a robust network to help the staff manage and monitor the substation.
Project Requirement
- EMI resistance and reliability in harsh environments
- IEC 61850-3 compliance
- Network redundancy
- Network management
Solution
Two ORing’s IEC 61850-3 Ethernet switches, RGS-PR9000, are deployed in the control center as core switches. With Modbus/TCP protocol supported, the switches can be monitored and managed via a power SCADA system, which is important for the simplicity and reliability of substation operation. The support for IEC 61850 also ensures the switches are protected from high levels of electromagnetic interference, temperature fluctuations, and vibrations.
