Solution
An IEC 61850-3 certified modular Ethernet switch, the RGS-P9000-HV, is deployed in the power substation to support video surveillance for both internal and external areas of the facility. Featuring a modular hardware design, the RGS-P9000-HV allows flexible module combinations to meet different connectivity and port requirements, enabling scalable network expansion as system demands grow.
The power substation is connected to regional branch control centers via a fiber network. At each branch control center, the RGS-P9000-HV serves as the core aggregation switch, providing high port density through modular interfaces to connect multiple media converters and surveillance cameras across the network.
In addition to its modular flexibility, the RGS-P9000-HV is certified to IEC 62443-4-2, ensuring robust cybersecurity protection for critical infrastructure. Its advanced security mechanisms help safeguard video surveillance systems against unauthorized access and cyber threats, maintaining stable and secure network operations.
The main objective of this project is to ensure stable, interference-resistant, and real-time data transmission for the power substation. Therefore, each power pylon is equipped with an IEC 61850-3 certified media converter, IMC-P111FX, enabling timely transmission of monitoring data over long distances while overcoming external interference. This deployment significantly reduces the risk of damage from harsh environments and external factors, fully meeting the customer’s operational and reliability requirements.
