Ms. Fang-Ting Shih, a dedicated performing arts educator at New Taipei Municipal Sanmin High School, devoted nearly 20 years to arts education. After graduating from the Department of Drama at the National Taiwan University of Arts and the Department of Theatre Arts at Chinese Culture University, she earned her Master of Arts with honors from Lindenwood University in the United States. Upon returning to Taiwan, she served as a full-time drama teacher at Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School and later obtained a master’s degree from the Graduate Institute of Creative Industries at National Taiwan Normal University. Throughout her teaching career, she was committed to promoting arts education and was invited to teach teacher training courses at universities, significantly contributing to the development of arts education in secondary schools. The daughter of the chairman of the Da-Gang Culture and Arts Foundation, Ms. Shih actively assisted with foundation affairs and helped advance its mission of promoting cultural and artistic development.

Ms. Shih was a highly respected educator, known for her outstanding teaching expertise and years of dedicated service. She received numerous first-place awards in teaching plan competitions and held various roles across esteemed institutions, including the K-12 Education Administration, National Academy for Educational Research, Performing Arts Curriculum Center for Senior High Schools, and advisory groups for arts education in New Taipei City. As a core member of the Ministry of Education’s National Arts Education Advisory Team, she played a key role in promoting arts education initiatives nationwide. Admired by her students for her unique charisma, Ms. Shih consistently approached teaching from the student’s perspective, designing innovative and effective methods that brought the joy and depth of performing arts to life. Her sudden passing was a heartbreaking loss to all who loved her, yet her passion for education and graceful presence remains deeply cherished in everyone’s memory.

In honor of her wishes, the ORing Da-Gang Culture and Arts Foundation established the Fang-Ting Shih Scholarship at Sanmin High School in 2023. Each year, the scholarship supports outstanding student groups, individuals, and exceptional students from underprivileged backgrounds - carrying forward Ms. Shih’s spirit of love and dedication to education, and inspiring young learners to pursue excellence in their academic journeys.
