As the world moves towards a smarter future, one thing is clear: the number of power-hungry network devices will keep increasing, from the PTZ cameras installed on the utility poles in smart cities to the high performance wireless access points in 5G infrastructure. While PoE technology has been widely adopted to allow network devices to be deployed in locations without local power, most existing PoE devices only support up to 30W of power per port, which is insufficient for network devices with higher power requirements. ORing has thus developed a high-power PoE media converter in compliance with the new IEEE 802.3bt standard to help customers prepare for the future.

ORing's IGPMC-111GP-BT-24V industrial media converter can easily address the needs of power-hungry devices because the media converter provides up to 90W of power through its Gigabit PoE ports. Designed for power guzzlers such as Wi-Fi 6 access points, PTZ and dome cameras, VoIP phones, thin clients, and 5G small cells, this future-proof media converter is also backward compatible with IEEE 802.3af/at devices. Therefore, customers can protect their existing investment while upgrading the technology at their business.

Apart from the Gigabit copper port, the IGPMC-111GP-BT-24V comes with a SFP slot to enable long-haul data transmission through optical fiber. The hot-swappable nature of SFP allows for easy configuration and future upgrades as network demand increases since customers only need to upgrade the SFP module rather than replacing the entire media converter. The media converter not only serves as a bridge between fiber and copper, it can also connect multiple LANs in different locations to create one large network in their branch, data center, or metro Ethernet networks.

The IGPMC-111GP-BT-24V supports the LFP (Link Fault Pass-through) to monitor the copper links connected to it. When one copper link fails, the link fault of the local side media converter is transferred to the remote side media converter. An alert is immediately sent to the network administrator about the link issue to facilitate troubleshooting. LFP can prevent loss of valuable data transmitted over an invalid link, thus minimizing the damage to customers' business.

Other than the above-mentioned advantages, the IGPMC-111GP-BT-24V supports a wide voltage range between 12~57 VDC to meet a broad range of application needs. The wide operating temperature range from -40 ~ 75°C, the IP-30 housing, and dual power inputs for power supply redundancy also enable the media converter to withstand harsh environments in industrial applications.
