WiFi 6, also known as 802.11ax, is gaining ground in the industrial setting. However, there are only a limited number of WiFi 6-enabled networking devices in the industrial market. With the 802.11ax standard set to be published in February 2021, ORing has unveiled a WiFi 6 industrial access point boasting dual radios, Gigabit speed, and PoE support to help industrial customers stay ahead of competition.
The WiFi 6-enabled IGAP-W99110GP+ represents a great leap forward in industrial network connectivity because it can deliver higher data rates, capacity, and power efficiency promised by WiFi 6, helping industrial customers build networks with higher performance and security, while providing enhanced user access. With the OFDMA feature of WiFi 6 which subdivides a channel into smaller subchannels, multiple clients can transmit or receive data to and from IGAP-W99110GP+ at the same time in the same channel, thereby increasing the density of user access. IGAP-W99110GP+ can also communicate with multiple devices at the same time through its MU-MIMO support. By using the four built-in spatial streams, IGAP-W99110GP+ can talk to four devices at a time.
The dual radio design enables IGAP-W99110GP+ to support both 2.4G and 5G, significantly increasing the flexibility of applications. For example, IGAP-W99110GP+ can be connected to local devices via 2.4G and another AP via 5G to form a wireless backbone. Customers can also use each band to connect different local devices based on their needs, such as the 2.4G band for better range and the 5G band for higher performance or speed. Supporting BSS coloring, IGAP-W99110GP+ can optimize the reuse of spectrum in dense deployment scenarios, enabling the network to transmit data to multiple devices in congested areas such as city centers or stadiums.
