The easiness of setup and low cost has led to the wide adoption of serial devices in worldwide industrial systems. In light with the IIoT trend, Ethernet technology has been gradually introduced to factories, resulting in a hybrid environment where legacy serial devices and modern networking equipment coexist. To help customers protect their existing investment while facilitate seamless communications between the old and new equipment, ORing has developed a cost-effective media converter to connect serial devices to Ethernet networks.
The ISC-1310FR is designed for extending RS-232/422/485 serial communications with fiber cables. Due to their inherent resistance to EMI/RFI and transient surges, fiber lines are a better choice for data communications near heavy electrical equipment and other electrical or radio interference than copper cables.
Thanks to the ring mode support of the ISC-1310FR, up to 32 serial devices can be connected in a ring with a data rate of 115200. There is no need to use a repeater for connection, which significantly reduces installation cost and complexity. With auto baud rate function, the ISC-1310FR can automatically detect the baud rate of a serial device. Therefore, you can rest assured that no data will be lost during transmission even if a device’s baud rate is changed.
The device features simple DIP switch configuration, allowing you to change serial modes by toggling the switch. Combined with a robust industrial design supporting a wide operating temperature range from -40 ~ 75 and a wide voltage range from two +12~48 VDC power inputs, the ISC-1310FR a perfect fit for harsh operating environments.
