A steel factory in Galați, Romania, needed dependable conveyor belt automation to move materials between production stages on schedule. Effective communication was essential to maintaining productivity and steel quality at a facility supporting the country’s infrastructure development.

Solution

ORing connected conveyor belt PLCs, management PCs, and data servers to support coordinated material transport throughout production. The deployment included IDS-5042, IMC-121FB-SS-SC, and IDS-3082GP devices, addressing the plant’s fiber-optic and serial-to-Ethernet connectivity requirements.

Industrial hardware supported communication in demanding factory conditions, while O-Ring redundancy and redundant power inputs helped maintain network availability during connection or power disruptions. In the control center, ORing’s Open-Vision network management utility simplified network supervision and supported effective PLC management. Together, these capabilities improved information flow across production stages and supported timely conveyor operation.
