A road surveillance project in Europe required a dependable network to support traffic monitoring and remote control at busy intersections. The network needed to transmit surveillance data over long distances while withstanding harsh roadside conditions and continuous operation. In 2009, ORing worked with a system integrator to establish an IP-based surveillance network that met these demands.

Solution
The project deployed 120 IPS-2042P industrial PoE lite-managed Ethernet switches to connect roadside surveillance equipment. Each switch provided four 10/100Base-T(X) PoE ports for powering and connecting compatible devices, along with two 100Base-X SFP ports for fiber connections over longer distances.
By combining PoE connectivity with fiber uplinks, the solution supported reliable communication between roadside devices and the monitoring system. Its industrial design and wide operating temperature range made it well suited to the demanding conditions at busy intersections.
