Project Introduction
Location: Washington D.C, US
Project Name: ORing Enhances Video Surveillance Efficiency of Prison in Washington Project
Products Deployed: RGPS-92222GCP-NP
Project Requirement
- High port density and PoE support
- High network availability
- Harsh weather resistance, especially in low temperature
Solution
More than 50 RGPS-92222GCP-NP have been installed across the prison to connect IP cameras in different locations such as entrances and hallways. The switch comes with 26 Gigabit ports, including 4 combo ports featuring two SFP slots to enable long-haul data transmission. The high port density of the switch saves a great deal of cost and space for the prison considering the large number of IP cameras on the site. The Gigabit speed also ensures video data is sent to the control center without any delay or package loss.
Since some of the ports are PoE-enabled, the switch can provide power to IP cameras directly through the Ethernet cables, significantly reducing the efforts and cost of installation because no additional power cables are required. In addition, RGPS-92222GCP-NP provides a wide operating temperature range which enables it to operate at a temperature as low as -40°C degrees. Therefore, the switch can still work properly in the winter when the temperature drops to nearly -20°C degrees.
ORing's solution has dramatically improved the management efficiency of the prison for the administrator, whether monitoring inmate activities or maintaining order in common areas. Suspicious inmate activity can be spotted immediately and prison incidents can be kept under control rapidly. The administrator is also free from worries about latency or packet loss, which is important when providing surveillance footage for investigations of prison incidents.
