Project Introduction

Location: Guangzhou,China

Project Name: Thermal Power Plant in Guangzhou

Products Deployed: IGS-3044GP/RGS-7244GP/RES-3242GC-E

Project Requirement

  • High network availability
  • Industrial durability
  • Long-distance data transmission

In early 2010, ORing helped a thermal power plant in Guangzhou, China, deploy a plant-floor network. The project required high availability, long-distance transmission, and equipment capable of withstanding harsh industrial conditions while maintaining communications for critical applications.

Solution

The RES-3242GC-E managed switch provided 24 Fast Ethernet ports and two Gigabit SFP combo ports. O-Ring supported recovery in under 10 ms across 250 switches, alongside MSTP/RSTP/STP redundancy. Its −40°C to +70°C operating range, one full-range AC input, dual DC inputs supporting +12–48 VDC or −12–−48 VDC, and relay alarm output addressed environmental, power, and monitoring needs.

The IGS-3044GP and RGS-7244GP added full-Gigabit connectivity and fiber links. The IGS-3044GP combined four Gigabit copper ports with four Gigabit SFP ports; Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) tracked transceiver voltage, current, and temperature. The rack-mounted RGS-7244GP supplied 24 Gigabit copper ports and four Gigabit SFP ports, providing higher connection density for the plant network.
