Project Introduction
Location: Germany
Project Name: PV Plant in Germany
Products Deployed: IES-2042FX/IES-1042 FX
Project Requirement
- Compact, DIN-rail-mountable switches
- Industrial data connectivity
- Stable communications to prevent data loss
A photovoltaic plant in Germany needed an industrial communication network to maintain dependable data transmission and prevent data loss. Compact, DIN-rail-mountable equipment was essential, alongside resilience in harsh conditions and cost-effective network expansion.
Solution
ORing combined IES-2042FX lite-managed and IES-1042FX unmanaged switches. The IES-2042FX provided four Fast Ethernet copper ports and two 100Base-FX ports, supporting O-Ring recovery in under 10 ms across 250 switches, plus RSTP/STP redundancy. The IES-1042FX offered four Fast Ethernet copper ports and fiber connectivity, with redundant power inputs, a configurable relay alarm, and IP30 housing.
Both switch series supported −40°C to +70°C operation. IMC-1021FX media converters connected 10/100Base-T(X) copper links with 100Base-FX fiber; their IP30 housings and T-model temperature range of −40°C to +70°C suited demanding conditions. The system integrator cited cost-effectiveness and planned further deployment to expand the network.
