ORing has added two models to its Transporter-series industrial Ethernet switches. The series of products with EN50155 compliance are designed for railway applications. The addition of the new models, featuring Gigabit speeds, a waterproof casing, and network redundancy capabilities, will provide customers with more flexibility when deploying railway networks.

The newly launched switches include the TPS-W9124GT-M12X-BP2-24V-IP54 and the TES-W9124GT-M12X-BP2-24V-IP54, both equipped with 12 Fast Ethernet ports and 4 Gigabit ports. The Fast Ethernet ports of the TPS-W9124GT-M12X-BP2-24V-IP54 are PoE-enabled to simplify cabling hassles and reduce deployment costs as electrical power, up to 30 watts, can be transmitted along with data to remote devices over the same twisted-pair cable. With support for several network redundancy protocols and technologies including O-Ring, O-Chain, MRP, and MSTP/RSTP/STP, the two switches can protect mission-critical applications from network interruptions or temporary malfunctions as the network can resume operations automatically in nearly real time. They also come with two sets of bypass ports to prevent single points of failure caused by power supply problems. By enabling data to bypass the inactive node and continue to be routed to the next active switch in the relay, the switches add an extra level of resilience to the deployments.

The X-code M12 connectors adopted in these two switches not only ensure tight and robust connections but also provide superior signal strength for high-speed Ethernet data transfers than traditional M12 connectors. With the ability to handle high bandwidth files and minimize transfer time, the M12 X-code connectors significantly reduce data bottlenecks and improve network performance. In addition, the switches are equipped with an IP54-rated housing which offers protection from dust ingress and water spray from any direction. Therefore, they can be installed outside trains where rain or airborne particulates may damage components inside the enclosure.
