Project Introduction
Location: US
Project Name: US Medical Equipment Maker Integrates ORing Switch in Surgical Equipment Project
Products Deployed: IGS-3032GC
Project Requirement
- Resistance to high temperatures
- Automatic network clock synchronization
- Reliable, cost-effective data communication
- Fiber connectivity to access points
A US medical equipment manufacturer needed to integrate networking into its surgical navigation systems for dependable, secure data transmission. The solution had to withstand high temperatures, synchronize network clocks, and provide fiber connections to wireless access points linking the equipment to a control center. cooling company in Dubai needed to connect energy transfer stations (ETSs) in the buildings it served to its headquarters’ command control center. These stations handled chilled and return water, requiring dependable remote monitoring and control. Long distances, high temperatures, and the consequences of network outages made resilience essential.
Solution
The manufacturer installed an ORing IGS-3032GC industrial Ethernet switch in each of 500 surgical navigation systems. Three copper ports and two ports operating in SFP fiber mode provided Gigabit connectivity for bandwidth-intensive medical images and video. Data traveled over fiber to an access point, then wirelessly to the control center.
PTP client support enabled network clock synchronization, addressing the manufacturer’s timing requirements. HTTPS and SSH supported secure management, while TACACS+ and IEEE 802.1X authentication helped control access. Combined with its wide-temperature industrial design, the switch provided managed connectivity suited to the equipment’s demanding operating conditions.
